Is there a fee?
No - thank you to our partners, the entry fee has been waived!
How many students can be on a team?
Teams can include two to 10 students.
What are the judging guidelines?
Entries will be evaluated and scored on a 10-point system (10 being the highest score, 1 being the lowest) by a judging panel comprised of qualified and vetted STEM enthusiasts, educators, and industry experts. Click here for Judging Requirements.
Where does the award ceremony take place?
The judging process will begin in June 2015. Finalists will be notified at the end of the judging period and will receive an invitation to attend the official Young Mind Awards ceremony in conjunction with the R&D 100 awards at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada on November 13, 2015.
What’s required?
Each entrant must complete a competition registration form and a project submission.
Competition Registration Form Must Include:
- Name of student
- Open Source Agreement – allowing for the content to be placed within public domain (ABM website)
- Students age and education level
- Teacher Name / School Name
- Brief explanation (abstract) of project
Project Submission Must Include:
- Entry video (less than 3 minutes long) with an in-depth presentation and explanation of the project, fully illustrating the extent of your design and the end product.
- Written report that clearly explains project, the design, the functionality, and the end result of your creation.
Can I save my application when I'm fling it out and come back to finish it?
The only portion that has to be completed at one time is the online registration form (which takes less than 5 minutes to complete). The remainder of the application process is a separate step (which includes the mandatory documents) that can completed at your convenience and uploaded once you are ready.
Can the application be edited after submission?
Yes, up until May 31, 2015.
